We met Ghanaian artist Jul Javii in Berlin, right on the brink of his music video shoot for his upcoming single “Never.” But even amidst the city’s buzz and flashing lights, his heart was somewhere else entirely—on the coastlines of Western Ghana. With a deep breath and a nostalgic smile, he took us on a journey—one woven with waves, whispers of history, and the beats that shaped his soul.

Jul's top spots

(A mix of beach serenity, cultural treasures, and creative hideouts)

In this guide, he shares with us some his favourite places to stay, the beaches where he gets creative, and all the touristy essentials in his hometown. He describes Cape Coast as perfect place to relax and find peace.

Capetown Three Ponits

Peninsula in Western Region of Ghana

After a quiet morning, we drive westward. The road winds into lush greens and scattered villages until we arrive at Cape Three Points—a secluded peninsula and Ghana’s southernmost tip.

“It's a bit far from Busua, but definitely worth checking and visiting. It's like a lighthouse in a village. What's nice is that you won't see a lot of people there, it's extremely empty, you'll only see the people who lives there which gives you this local vibe. It has great scenery, and also there is this spot with great rocks where you can stand on and watch the sunset.”

At daybreak, Jul finds his peace at Busua Beach Resort. The salty wind, the hush of early waves, and the golden light stretch across a near-empty shore. This is where he writes. Sometimes lyrics, sometimes nothing at all. Just presence.

Busua Beach Resort

Hotel in Western Region of Ghana

“I discovered this place since my uni days, and ever since I always feel comfortable and at peace whenever I am here. So please put this as my number one spot in Ghana. I just love Busua, it's very peaceful, not too much people unlike other cities.”

Cape Coast Castle

Historical Landmark in Western Region of Ghana

“I would recommend every tourist place in Ghana! It's I mean, this is a place for everybody to understand more about the diaspora, to just see how it started  and what went down in Ghana. So I would really recommend Cape Coast Castle.”

The shift in mood is immediate as we step into Cape Coast Castle. Dark stone corridors, echoing chambers, and the Atlantic staring back. This is where the past whispers.

Ko-Sa Beach Resort

Hotel in Cape Coast

Hungry and sun-warmed, Jul leads us to Ko-Sa Beach Resort near Cape Coast. A lowkey spot with local seafood and shaded hammocks strung between palm trees.

“Then there is also this really nice beach in Cape Coast, called the Ko-Sa beach resort. I recommend this to tourists and everyone else.”

Oasis Beach Resort

Hotel in Cape Coast

As the sky fades, Jul heads to Oasis Beach Resort, headphones already on. The waves pulse nearby while he scribbles in a small leather notebook.

“Definitely a great spot in Cape Coast. It's very peaceful, so I would just get on with my head phones, write some music and get all this vibe. It's very special to me.”

A waitress brings a ginger drink. He nods, still writing. The beat he’s humming is smooth, steady, like the tide.

Kakum National Park

National Park in Western Region of Ghana

Before leaving Western Ghana, there’s one last stop—Kakum National Park.

“Man this is another place I highly recommend to visit. For nature, this is a must visit for sure.”

As we step onto the hanging bridge, Jul laughs nervously—“this part’s always scary”—but he keeps going. Below us, the rainforest breathes.
