The price of each chapter varies, depending on the destination's living cost, popularity, and seasonality. We recommend allocating another 20% budget for yourself for the rest of the month.
You have the option to pay in full, pay a deposit and the rest later, or with a payment plan (depending on how far in advance you make the booking).

Each chapter has a limited capacity, so we recommend you securing your spot as soon as possible- especially for our most popular chapters: Lisbon, Barcelona, Mumbai, Dubai, Bali, Rio de Janeiro, and Nairobi,
Bookings typically close 30days before the chapter's starting date. However, you can try to request to join within this period by contacting us- and we may accept you based on availability.

We acknowledge that your plans may be subject to change, which is why we provide the following cancellation policy:
A cancellation is considered effective when we receive written confirmation of the cancellation via email at sabbatical@hyperlocaltravel.com. If you cancel a trip, the following cancellation fees will apply based on the date we receive your written confirmation:
91 days or more before departure: Deposit is non-refundable and will be issued as "Travel Credit" on your account, which can be transferred to another trip.
90-61 days before departure: 25% of the trip cost is non-refundable. Any additional amount paid will be refunded or given as travel credit.
60-31 days before departure: 50% of the trip cost is non-refundable. Any additional amount paid will be refunded or given as travel credit.
30 days or less before departure: No refund is possible.
We cannot provide refunds for any unused portion of your trip if you are quarantined or a supplier refuses services due to illness, symptoms, or test results for an infectious disease.

You'll get to choose between staying in a co-living space or a private apartment in one of the charming neighbourhoods in the city.
We have partnered up with the best local property managers to provide you with comfortable accommodation, equipped with modern amenities and fast-wifi for mid-long term stay.
Please not that when you book a shared apartment, there is a chance that you might be assigned a roommate of a different gender.
We will ask for your accommodation preferences, before your stay, but please understand that we cannot assure the gender of your roommate and the neighbourhoods, due to the fluctuating number of guests.

You will also get a pass for the month to work from an inspiring workspace provided by our local co-working space partners. Our team will assign you to a workspace ideally 20mins walk from your accommodation.
The size of our chapters varies depending on the destination and season. Our chapters typically consist of 5-15 participants.
For some instances where a group size gets below 5, we will invite you to a few extra experiences at no additional cost: from friends dinners, night meetups, to group sports. This type of cohort is actually preferred more by our travellers, since you'll be making a lot more local friends, beyond mostly hanging out with fellow foreigners.
Guests are not eligible to take part in any of the local experiences. Depending on the activity, we might be able to make some exceptions and allow guest to join an experience for an additional fee.
The best option is to bring a friend to your chapter, and enjoy our group discounts. Each of you will save 30% if you stay in one room, or if you stay in separate rooms, you'll save 10%.
Yes, generally overnight visitors are allowed for a maximum of three nights for each chapter- with a prior notice to our team.
If your guest would like to stay longer, it is best to use our group discounts. If you bring a friend, each of you will save 30% if you stay in one room, or save 10% each if you stay in separate rooms.
Yes, participants can only join if they are 21 or above. The majority of our participants and local community members are aged between 24-40.

Please note that you will need to choose a private apartment, and pets are not allowed in shared co-living spaces.
Arrival before Chapter starts
You may arrive early, however we are unable to give you the free airport pickup, nor check-you in early. Please contact our team, and we will assist you with travel arrangements.
Arrival after Chapter starts
You may arrive late, however we are unable to give you discounts for missed time.
It's quite common for our participants to make an extension- especially when they're having the time of their lives.
Due to this popular request, we now give the option for participants to extend up to 6 months, and save 30% off on monthly housing rate after the first month.
Please let our team know if you'd like to extend as soon as possible. We only accept extension depending on availability, and subject to our housing vendor's dynamic pricing.
