Ghanzi District, Botswana
About
Covering about 52,800 km², it is Botswana’s largest reserve and second largest in Africa, featuring arid deserts, sand dunes, and fossil riverbeds. Its long habitation by San hunter-gatherers means deep cultural heritage. The reserve offers remote, uncrowded safaris focusing on desert-adapted species and spectacular open landscapes.
Wildlife
Wildlife includes black-maned lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, gemsbok, springbok, wildebeest, and oryx. The reserve also supports rare desert species such as bat-eared foxes and honey badgers, with diverse birds using seasonal wetlands.
