About
Pendjari spans approximately 2,755 km² as part of the W-Arly-Pendjari complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared with neighboring countries. It encompasses savannah, deciduous forest, rivers, and waterfalls, supporting rich biodiversity. Since 2017 African Parks manages the park, successfully addressing poaching and promoting sustainable community development. The park represents critical habitat for big game and is a top birding destination in West Africa.
Wildlife
Significant populations of elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, roan antelope, and kob inhabit the park, complemented by over 350 bird species. River habitats support hippos and crocodiles, enhancing biodiversity with seasonal congregations of wildlife.
