About
Covering approximately 14,763 km², Serengeti offers diverse landscapes including open grasslands, riverine forests, and kopjes (rocky outcrops). The park is part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem, which supports a complex web of predators and prey. It is home to the world-famous annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeests, accompanied by zebras and Thomson’s gazelles. Established in 1951 and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Serengeti embodies the quintessential African safari experience.
Wildlife
The park hosts the largest lion population in Africa along with leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, and an abundance of antelope species. Bird enthusiasts may encounter over 500 species, including vultures, eagles, and hornbills. The riverine areas provide habitat for hippos and crocodiles.
